We believe based on Ephesians 4:11-13 and Matthew 28:18-20 that Biblical leadership is the task of leading God’s people into mutual ministry with one another for the purpose of building up the body of Christ and reaching out to the world.
In order to accomplish this task, leaders need to…
- Establish a growing and maturing relationship with the Lord. (John 15:5)
- Sense a calling or passion from the Lord to lead people. (Exodus 3:1-10 & John 21:15-17)
- Have a vision for building up future leaders. (2 Timothy 2:2)
Currently at Arlington UMC there are three primary leadership councils responsible for leading the collective body of Christ, the church. Together these leaders make up the Church Council, the Latino Council, and the West-African Council.
Each Council of Leaders meets monthly to plan and implement their ministry:
- Church Council – First Wednesday of every month, 7:00 pm
- Latino Council – First Sunday of every month, 12:15 – 2:15 pm
- West African Council – First Saturday of every month, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that ...The chain reaction of evil -- hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars -- must be broken.Martin Luther King Jr.
